I just loved so many things about the gorgeous wedding of Kate and Gareth. The subjects, the setting, the light! I could go on and on. Let’s take you back to their special day last week – Kate and her awesome girls got ready at the family home, Noble Estate Olive Grove. She is one of five daughters so the make up team were kept busy tending to the full party. Flowers Rediscovered prepared the most delightful bouquets – certainly one of the best I’ve seen before.

The brides’ gown was from from Astra Bridal and showed off her narrow waist perfectly. Check out how spectacular the train and veil looked walking down the aisle! Her shoes were so cute with all the pink glitter on the heels. Look for the photo of her printed vows – what a lovely idea to read off these during the ceremony – a lovely keepsake too.

It was a little bit of challenging drive to the ceremony as we were stuck in Easter traffic. We took several back roads to get there on time. St Mary’s Church in Otaki is one of the prettiest churches I have photographed in. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the oldest wooden churches in the country and is protected by the Historic Places Trust. Gareth was patiently waiting with his Best Man, both looking sharp in their Farry’s suits.

We took the bridal party on a scenic route for their photographs, seeking to find as much variety as we could. Look out for the drone coverage on Otaki beach and those dramatic steel coloured skies. We had a fun play in a pocket of Redwood trees and Otaki Gorge Rd was a very kiwi backdrop with it’s beautiful tree canopy enveloping the road.

We made it back to the home just as the Autumn light began to fade – out came the drone again. The sunset was nothing short of exquisite. Catering for the evening was expertly prepared by Ruth Pretty Catering. Well done Kate and Gareth – you did it! Mr and Mrs forever. xxx
